Welcome! My name is Jessica...I am a Christ follower, wife, and mommy to my 4 favorite kiddos. I love playing piano and keyboard for worship and look forward to evenings once the kids are in bed when I get to curl up on the couch with my man and watch a movie or read a good book.
I have grown to love living a healthy lifestyle, am learning to cook and feed my family with as many whole foods as I can, and have strangely grown to love health, wellness, and fitness! What has happened to me? Ha.
As a special needs mom, I have a passion for mothers who are raising children with challenges. Our youngest child Zachary (born May 2011) was diagnosed with Lowe's Syndrome when he was 2. Lowe Syndrome affects the brain, the eyes, and the kidneys. Zachary was born with congenital cataracts - cataracts in both eyes. Two surgeries later and super thick glasses, he can see! Little Z also has significant hypotonia (low muscle tone) and is very developmentally delayed. He's developing at his own little pace thanks to our fabulous speech, occupational, and physical therapists. Our days are filled with therapy visits and various doctor appointments. I don't have this parenting a child with special needs thing down, but I'm learning as we go.
I cling to my Father God for strength to get through each day. He's my strenth, my rock, my teacher, my Father. I couldn't parent, be a wife, or live my life without Him. Quiet mornings with my Lord are my favorite time of the day.
Please come back lots! I'd love to get to know you and your story. How can we encourage one another?

Hi, my name is Rachel Fama. I saw your comment on Rachel Wojo's blog about your son with developmental delays. We have a daughter who would not roll, sit up, crawl. At 11 months she had an MRI. It showed enlarged ventricles in her brain, and she was diagnosed with periventricular leukomalacia. I wondered if your son may have the same thing. I have a blog, but hardly ever post. It's famamama2.blogspot.com. I would love to meet you and help in any way I can. May God's blessings be on you and your family! (We are also on Facebook...AlvinandRachelFama.
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel! SO nice to meet you, I will definitely look you up! How's your sweet girl doing these days? And how are YOU?
DeleteHello - I am an American living in the UK right now and happened to come across someone's blog last week. It is kathrynJackson.com and she is the Christian mother of 3 little ones. Several years ago, her family was involved in a car crash and her middle child, a girl named Annie, suffered severe injures. She was left brain damaged and in a wheelchair. I just thought the two of you would enjoy hooking up. Will be praying for Zachary across the ocean!!! Love & prayers, Judy Jackson
ReplyDeleteThank you Judy, I'll will look Kathryn up. It's so nice to run into other moms who understand! Thank you for your prayers for Zachary. That means SO much.
