a family calling

God has called us to something new.  Something some may call crazy.  For over a year I've had a nudge in my heart, an idea that kept popping up.  I've felt the call to help my husband's Grandparents live the last days of their lives happy and well.  Grandpa passed away at the end of May.  What a joy it was to help plan his memorial service celebration.  We celebrated his life, spent time with extended family, but the reality is life goes on.  Grandma is living her days home alone and she's told me how she doesn't want to go into a nursing home.  I'd say she is the sweetest lady I've ever met and her love for God and her family?  Huge.

God revealed his plan in the last couple of weeks.  I'd never ever mentioned my desire to move our family in with and care for the Grandparents to anyone.  Not ever Peter.  But God made his plan known, not expecting it to line up with the nudge I'd been feeling in my heart.

SO---in 3 short week we will be moving in with Grandma.  I look forward to living life alongside her.  I look forward to the lessons we all can learn from her and this journey.  I can't wait for my kids to get to spend time with her more and learn lessons of serving others.  Will it be easy?  No.  I know this will have its challenges. We are getting rid of a lot of our belongings.  I'm going to have to keep my kids in control so they don't drive Gma crazy! :)  We're trusting and anticipating God to teach me through this time.  Because only God could plan this crazy idea - and I'm looking forward to what He has in store!

So much has to be done in the next few weeks.  We've been spending most of our time getting Grandma's basement ready for us to invade.  Hopefully after this weekend I can focus on our place.  Ridding, selling, packing, and working in the midst of it.

Here we go...!

  1. I know this new journey won't be easy, but if God has called you to move in with your Grandma, then He will make this journey full of blessings and full of grace.

Our first 2 years of marriage was spent at my husband's Grandma's basement. 3 months after we mived in, his mom called and wanted to moved in with her because of another situation, so they lived upstair, we lived in the basement. Life was interesting, but through that, God taught me and my husband something important.

    Praying for you, Jessica!

And CONGRATULATIONS for winning the Declare Conf ticket from HelloMornings! So cool! And a great blessing for sure :)
