May I Remember How Far He's Come

May I Remember How Far He’s Come

When the fear sets in and I’m scared for what’s ahead
When the progress plateaus and it feels like he’s stuck
May I never forget how far he’s come

When I see how big the kids are at his age
And feel how my heart aches when they run, jump and play
May I remember the joy when ounces were gained
Remember the joy learning to roll over or crawl

When I long to hear his voice form words
When no conversation can be heard
May I remember the joy in his smile
Remember the faces and laughing

When I’m desperate to see him be like the rest
When I think I’m too scared to go on
May I remember how special he is in God’s eyes
Not forgetting God’s peace that’s so near

When the ugly syndrome symptoms begin to appear
And I’m tired, burdened, and worn
May I remember our boy is a gift from the Lord
And rest in God’s refuge and strength

May I remember the joy when ounces were gained
May I remember the joy in his smile
May I remember how special he is in God’s eyes
May I remember God’s peace that’s so near
May I remember our boy is a gift from the Lord
May I rest in God’s refuge and strength
May I remember how far he’s come
May I remember how far we’ve come

  1. Oh, Jessica, this is so beautiful! God chose YOU two to be his parents - HE knows what HE is doing. We don't and want to but need to trust. You are amazing, my friend!
